Council as a linktank between professionals, tends each time more to consider the internet of things as a global evolution fostering new relation between people their productions and their planet. By uniting professionnal transversally Council during the past 5 years aims to foster crossthinking and exchange leading to creative solutions in the field.

The Internet of Things is no longer a vision, it is becoming real. This technological ecology of ipv6, wifi, barcodes, QR codes and RFID is fostering transparency in decision making processes. As such it appears that it is not so much endusers that have to worry about it, as well as institutions, governments and companies who have things to hide or isolate for some reason. With over twenty IoT startups, a growing open source hardware movement, full blown computers for 25 dollars (Raspberry Pi) and Arduino microprocessors for the same price, a growing global consciousness that forces of competition have led us to brink of disaster, it makes no sense to despair, be negative or worry about your privacy or security. On the contrary, without be overtly optimistic, the agency of end users to group and form new alliances with actors from business and governance structures has never been so great. In this panel we want to explore these new alliances that favor collaboration and sharing, want to find new business models, are in favor of top down planning and bottom up co-creation, and building new decision making tools that cater to the way the balance the planet, humans, animals and our futures.

When artists as Konstantin Schmoelzer who uses his daily life on internet as a creative material, stands front with activists and engaged political like Amelia Andersdotter who daily defends privacy and open soucre issues at the european parliament, Council practically tackles issues of personnal connectivity. Industry people joign the thinktank grounding our thoughts by proposing concrete situation, Stefan Ferber experiences the real life issues in the production of Bosch's mobile solutions, Alicia Asin, pragmatically puts the richness of her theoretical economical and legislative knowledge to the service of production using new open source hardware possibilities, and Hans Juergen Kugler leads consultancy in the domain. Therefore the Council panel aims to reflect this wideness of thoughts anchoring our desire to overcome discourses and find ways to use the new agency given by the wide distribution of personnal devices autonomously connecting to the network, considering the actual individual possibility to generate and exchange all data, wether personal or public as a great source of creativity and agency.

Being aware of essential collective issues in data protection, is also a mean to go forward in building new projects with planetary views; when connectivity ameliorates exchanges, better communication generates possibilities of education throughout the world and being actively present on the edge issues is a necessity. Therefore, Council promotes crossthinking to understand how economical exchanges can constructively be enhanced by current absolutely pervasive connectivity thatlinks every point in the planet, far for talking of a global remedy it is important to acknowledge how connecting our things thoughts data leads to new local global exchanges valorising communities in the system, and letting a new accesses to powerfull forms of organisation to small production, the far away one'sand the individual allowing to share information on a personnal scale.
